Celebrate 10 Famous Or Unique Holidays In The Spring With These Math Resources

Do you know there are 725 holidays in the spring (Mar-May) listed on National Today? Even though there may not be public holidays for them, we can still celebrate them with these math resources.

By using holiday-themed resources, we can channel students’ enthusiasm to the task on hand as well as increase their awareness of these famous or unique holidays.

1) National Pi Day

This resource is played on the Boom Learning platform. The no prep, self-checking, and interactive characteristics are great for busy teachers. 

There are 10 main choices and many sub-choices for students to choose from. Students can choose what to do with the dogs in the dog shelter. 

With 115 questions (there are also a variety of questions), there are enough for you to split it between these related National holidays.

The Order of Operations Game

Love scavenger hunt? Then you will love this day…and this resource.

Do you think this is just a simple review of BODMAS? No, no, no. 

This is more than that. 

Of course, as usual, students will be engaged as they search the room and solve order of operations questions to get the letters of the anagram. However, here’s what makes this special: the mystery words are related to Good Characteristics: Committed, Attentive, Proactive, Confident.

Extend this activity by asking them to search for the particular good characteristic in their friends, family, or even themselves. 

This product includes 36 questions of Order Of Operations, 4 sets of the scavenger hunt in total. Search to your heart’s content! 

Conclusion

There are many more holidays in the spring and you can find all of them at National Today. While you can celebrate these holidays (and use them as an excuse to do these math resources with your class), remember that every day is worth celebrating.
