The Simple And Free Personality Test For Learning Styles You Need To Know

Do you want to learn more about your students through taking a personality test for learning styles? Then this blog post is for you!

Keep reading to learn more about the common personality tests. Then, take a look at the free personality tests I have compiled.

Types of Personality Tests

With numerous personality tests to choose from, it can be challenging to decide which one suits you best.

Here, I’ve explored some online personality tests that you can take for free and provided insights to help you save time and find the most suitable ones for your students.

But before I share with you the tests, let me explain further about the 2 common learning style models that you will come across.

VAK model

This model categorizes the sensory methods of learning as Visual (V), Auditory (A) and Kinesthetic (K) learning styles.

Some personality tests include reading/writing (R) learning styles making it a VARK model. However the tests in this blog post do not use this model but the simpler VAK model instead.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)

It is a popular psychological tool used to measure and categorize personality traits based on four dichotomies:

  • Introversion or Extraversion (I or E);
  • Sensing or Intuition (S or N);
  • Thinking or Feeling (T or F);
  • Judging or Perceiving (J or P);

The combination of these dichotomies results in 16 different personality types, each represented by a four-letter code (e.g., INFP, ESTJ).

Learning Styles Based on Jung’s Theory of Personality

These articles provide a more in-depth explanation of the different learning styles based on MBTI.

Free Online Personality Tests

None of these tests require any personal information, such as an email address, for you to read the report on the site. After you read the introduction and you want to try it out, just click the subheading to open the site in a new tab.

Free Learning Style Quiz: How Do You Learn?

Interestingly, this free test lets you know your learning style with a mix of VAK models and MBTI.

They will tell you the percentage of the 4 different combinations.

The test will inform you about how your personality acquires, memorizes, and recollects information in a few paragraphs.

Then it lets you know the optimal learning situations and where you might struggle.

Lastly, it will show you Your Learning Style Distribution—the percentage of you being a visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learner.

They will explain what each means and tips for optimizing each learning experience in a generalized manner.

I find this personality test quite comprehensive, and there are no ads on the site.

They will give you some tips that each type of learner can do to learn better.

For example, for visual learners, here are some tips given:

  • Use flashcards to learn new words.
  • Try to visualize things that you hear or things that are read to you.
  • Write down key words, ideas, or instructions.
  • Draw pictures to help explain new concepts and then explain the pictures.

This is quite a simple and quick test with simple, generalized results.

This website has a similar quiz but with added visuals to the options.

Gallatin College – What Type of Learner Are You?

This self-assessment quiz has only 8 questions.

Unlike clicking on an option, this quiz enables you to show your students the questions and options and determine their learning style based on the letter they scored the most responses in.

Furthermore, they provide more detailed study tips for each type of learner.

Final Thoughts

Personally, I feel that taking the personality test for learning styles is not really important since we usually use a variety of teaching methods.

However, it’s still good for students to know more about themselves. Answering questions in these tests makes them start thinking about what kind of person they are, which is something they might not have considered before.
