9 Fun Maths Measurement Games To Review The Skills

Are you looking for some maths measurement games to engage your students? Then look no further!

I’m going to share with you a 2022 new math game, and 8 other maths measurement games that will bring your students so much fun that they plead for more.

There are of course more than the 9 games but to prevent this blog post from being overly long, I’ll keep it to 9. But if you really want more, do read till the end. 😉

(Pss…All of the measurement games I mentioned here are of the metric system.)

1) Spot The Same

Spot The Same has a simple gameplay that requires students to look for the correct image out of 4 pictures.

But before they get to play, they need to solve 2 task cards of questions.

The short game act as a brain break and a “carrot” dangling in front of them.

This is available for 4 different measurements and themes:

  1. Money – Animal
  2. Length – Human
  3. Weight – Halloween
  4. Volume – Nature

With different themes, this means you can also use them to review the topic at different festivals or holidays.

Furthermore, as only the Spot The Same game is affected by the theme, you can mix and match the printable games if you bought more than 1 product.

To save time and effort, you can grab all 4 products in this bundle: Maths Measurement Games at 20% off!

Review length, mass, volume, and time with this fun, and engaging Jeopardy® style math gameshow.

This game is played on the Boom Learning site.

3) Escape Room

Math Game Time 4th Grade can be reviewed with this fun escape room.

Digital escape rooms are fun and require no preparation from you. Usually, within the escape room, students get to play a variety of games/puzzles.

Math Game Time 4th Grade will let your students practice TIME with the Winter theme (no mention of Christmas). Telling time for 4th grade can be fun and engaging with this escape room. This no prep, interactive, and self-checking Boom™ deck has 19 Boom™ Cards and 6 activities, a total of 37 questions. Students will enjoy it while they review time!

4) Logic puzzles

Printable Grid Logic Puzzles are great as extension activities.

Printable Grid Logic Puzzles allow students to practice critical thinking, deductive reasoning, and metric measurements of Volume (l & ml), Mass (kg & g), and Length (km, m, cm).

There are 10 fun logic puzzle grids that can be used to revise conversion, comparison, addition, and subtraction of metric measurement units (compound units eg. m and cm, and decimal units eg. 2.4 km).

It is perfect for math centers and other extension activities for 5th Grade and Singapore Primary 5 – 6 students.

This independent game includes an answer key and a digital version (Easel by TPT). It is economical to print and no prep is required.

5) Interactive storybook

Review tell time to the nearest minute using interactive storybook.
Tell Time to the Nearest Minute with this interactive storybook!

An interactive storybook is an attempt of mine to incorporate storylines with math questions. Students get to “role-play” a writer and write a storybook.

Do view the Video Preview in the listing for a better idea of this interactive storybook.

Tell Time to the Nearest Minute involves a cut and paste activity and a digital version.

The hands-on activity requires students to draw, color, fill in the blank, and cut and paste.

Students will be engaged for 2-3 hours as they share their day in this math storybook. You can complete this in small sessions.

You can use this math resource in many ways including using the flaps for interactive notebooks. 3rd Grader or Singapore Primary 3 students will love your lesson with this math activity!

6) Bingo

This is a popular and easy game. If your younger students have yet to come across them, take this opportunity to introduce the gameplay to them.

The first person to get 5 boxes in a line (horizontally, vertically, diagonally) and shout Bingo, wins the game.

This NO-PREP Converting Measurement Game allows students to have fun while practicing converting metric measurement.

With 6 pre-made BINGO cards and a cut & paste gameboard per set, your primary 3 students or 4th and 5th graders can play with just a partner or with the whole class.

7) Squares games

How to Play:

Pre-requisite: Prepare 1 Dice and color pencils. Determine which player goes first and what different colors they use.

  1. Students take turns throwing dice.
  2. Solve the respective questions.
  3. Search for the answer in the grid.
  4. Draw a line connecting 2 dots from left to right, top to bottom only. No diagonal line.
  5. The player who completes the square (the last player to draw a line to form a square) gets to color the square center and claim that square.
  6. The student with the most squares at the end of the game is the winner!
Squares Dots Game have 2 different layouts.

Squares Dots Game includes 8 worksheets of conversion of metric measurements involving decimal units. Singapore Primary 5 students will benefit from this fun review.

There are other math skills in the resources that I usually need to revise with my students repeatedly.

8) Tic Tac Toe

metric conversions games include tic tac toe
Tic Tac Toe is one of the Metric Conversions Games.

These NO-PREP Metric Conversions Games allow students to have fun while practicing converting compound units to a smaller unit.

This metric conversion games printable has 4 Tic Tac Toe gameboards that reviewed the following math skills:

  • Converting of km and m to m
  • Converting of m and cm to cm
  • Converting of kg and g to g
  • Converting of ℓ and mℓ to mℓ

The gameplay is mostly the same, but there are some tweaks to how it is played. With luck factor in, Tic Tac Toe is more interesting than ever!

9) Four-In-A-Row / Five-In-A-Row

This gameplay is simple, 2 students played against each other to be the first to get either four or five in a row.

To make the gameplay more different, the Four-In-A-Row in Metric Conversions Games is more similar to Connect Four™ gameplay where students need to start from the bottom of the column.

four in a row is as great metric conversions games
Four In A Row is a 2 players game.

On the other hand, in Five-In-A-Row, students are allowed to place anywhere they like.

Your students will enjoy playing Five In A Row!

Do note that five-in-a-row is a bit harder to win for students.

To make things more interesting, you may consider involving a luck factor.

For example, instead of taking turns, students can play scissor-paper-stone, or draw lots.

Or consider throwing a die to determine if students skip a turn or have one more turn.

Bonus

Are you looking for more conversions games? Then consider Metric Conversions Games which have 4 more games not mentioned in this blog post. Do check it out if you can’t get enough of them!

By the way, some of them can also act as converting measurement worksheet!
